3-Tier Model of Prevention & Support
Within Columbia Public Schools we are responsible for teaching academics and social behavioral skills. We teach all students our academic curriculum to address grade level expectations. We teach all studetns the school’s school-wide expectations and classroom routines and rules. However, some students do not respond to our quality, universal academic and behavioral instruction. The goal of the 3 Tier Model of Prevention, Intervention, and Support is to provide support to these students to better meet their needs, keep them in class learning, and avoid escalation to more intensive services.
The 3 Tier Model of Prevention, Intervention, and Support incorporates a Tier 2/3 Team process. This professional learning community (PLC) approach involves the classroom teacher, learning teams, Tier 2/3 representatives (e.g., administrator, counselor, school psychologist, special educator, etc.), and intervention coordinator(s). The process makes use of six key steps common in a decision making for results cycles:
- Collect Data
- Analyze Data
- Establish a Goal
- Select Specific Strategies
- Determine Results Indicators
- Monitor and Evaluate Results
Below you will find all the resources you will need to effectively utilizee the 3 Tier Model of Prevention, Intervention, and Support.
