At Benton, we do our best to keep students and parents involved at school.  We provide many activities outside the school day to keep kids learning and having fun.  check out some of the opportunities below. 

Adventure Club

Adventure Club is an enrichment based before- and after-school program based at 18 elementary schools in the Columbia Public School District. Visit their site at

BEST - Benton Elementary Stage Troupe

BEST meets Friday afternoons from 3:45 - 5:30. This is a performance club mixing choir singing and theatre. The club is made up of 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students. They rehearse and put on performances during the school day and in the evenings. Volleyball/Basketball/Swimming

This club meets in the afternoon from 4:15 - 5:15.  Students are given the opportunity to learn and practice skills used when playing volleyball, basketball, and swimming.

HighSteppers

This is community arranged group that meets Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons from 4:00 - 5:15.

Young Astronauts

This club meets Tuesday afternoons from 4:15 - 5:15.

Chess

Chess club meets on Monday afternoons from 4:15 - 5:15.  Students learn the skills and strategies used when playing chess.

K-Club

This club meets during the school day.  The K-Kids objectives are to:  provide opportunities for working together in service to school and community; develop leadership potential; foster the development of a strong moral character;  and encourage loyalty to school, community, and nation.

We understand the importance of basic fact knowledge in mathematics.  For this reason, we have started a Math Wizard program at Benton.  Each grade level set goals depending on the skills needed at that grade.  Help your child work on their basic facts at home.  Here are the skills needed for each grade level.

Kindergarten - Addition doubles through 10

1st Grade - Addition sums through 12

2nd Grade - Addition sums through 18

3rd Grade - Addition sums through 18 and multiplication facts through 5

4th Grade - Multiplication facts through 10

5th Grade - Multiplication facts through 12 and 13-15 through times 5
